The Friday night NFL Preseason schedule concludes with a battle between two teams with very high expectations for the upcoming season. The Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens begin their preseason schedule and could they end the NFL season in February against each other in the Super Bowl? Both rosters are loaded, but we won’t see many of the stars in Friday’s game. The Eagles are a 1.5-point favorite with a total pegged at 34 as of Thursday afternoon.
These teams also met during the 2023 preseason and meet quite regularly given their close proximity. Baltimore got the better of Philly last season 20-19, but the Eagles ended up covering the spread, snapping Baltimore’s very long ATS run. The Ravens actually finished 0-3 ATS in last year’s preseason, while the Eagles were 1-1-1 SU and 1-2 ATS. The Eagles are 3-1 ATS in their last four preseason meetings against the Ravens.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
There’s a lot of exciting around Eagles camp and the team will be looking to bounce back from a horrible end to 2023. That collapse has put head coach Nick Sirianni on the hot seat this season and he went out and grabbed Kellen Moore to be his new offensive coordinator. The addition of RB Saquon Barkley has also injected some excitement into the offense. Players that we’ll see Friday include quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee, running backs Will Shipley and Lew Nichols and wideouts Shaquan Davis, Griffin Hebert, and Jacob Harris.
BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Ravens had the best record in the league last season, but lost in the AFC Championship game in January. Lamar Jackson had a huge season and the rushing attack that was already best in the league, added All-Pro Derrick Henry in the offseason. Wide receivers Isaiah Washington, Malik Cunningham, and Keith Kirkwood will see lots of targets from Josh Johnson and Devin Leary. The Ravens will host the Atlanta Falcons next week before closing out the preseason at Green Bay.
As we know, the preseason is very hard to predict, so things I look at are head coaches and backup quarterbacks. Pickett has some experience, but is really bad. Josh Johnson has done well in past preseasons and of course John Harbaugh coaches to win. These teams played a close game last August and I expect another tight one. I’ll take the points.
