We have a terrific Super Bowl rematch on tap for this Monday night as the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Kansas Cit Chiefs to conclude Week 11. Both teams are sitting atop their respective conferences and could very well meet again this coming February in Las Vegas. The only time the same two teams met in consecutive Super Bowls was after the 1992 and 1993 season when Dallas beat Buffalo both times.
Last February in Phoenix, the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35 as a 1-point underdog in one of the most entertaining Super Bowls ever. Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and scrambled 26 yards on the go-ahead drive, leading to Harrison Butker’s game-winning 27-yard field. Mahomes was the game’s MVP, but Eagles QB Jalen Hurts had a heck of a game also with 304 yards passing and a score and three rushing TDs and 70 yards on the ground.
The Eagles are in the midst of a brutal stretch of games that started with a 28-23 home win over the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 5. Philly had their Bye last week and will host Buffalo and San Francisco the next two weeks before visiting Dallas on Dec. 10. The Chiefs are also coming off a Bye and bounced back from a surprising loss at Denver with a 21-14 win against Miami in Germany. Kansas City will be a 2.5-point favorite in this contest with a total of 45.5.
Since Dec. 1, 2021, including the postseason, Philadelphia (26-5, .839) has the NFL’s best record while Kansas City (26-6, .813) is right behind. The Eagles are the first team since 2005-06 Colts to start 8-1 or better in consecutive seasons. The team did lose No. 1 tight end Dallas Goedert to a broken forearm in Week 9 and he is ruled out for Monday. Goedert has 38 receptions for 410 yards and two touchdowns and is also a great blocker.
Starting safety Justin Evans was placed on injured reserve after Week 5, but is ready to return. He has 15 tackles, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery on the year. The secondary has been an issue for Philly this year. Only the Chicago Bears (20) and Washington Commanders (21) have allowed more touchdown passes than the Eagles with 19.

The normally high-powered Chiefs’ offense has stalled a bit lately. The are averaging just 23.1 points per game with back-to-back games of 14 or fewer offensive points as well back-to-back with fewer than 275 total yards. Mahomes is on pace for another strong year with 2,442 yards and 17 touchdowns but has also thrown eight interceptions. He threw for two touchdowns in last week’s win over the Miami Dolphins. Travis Kelce leads the team in catches (57) and receiving yards (597).

I’ll take the points in this one. The Chiefs haven’t been as dominating even though they have a 7-2 record. Philly’s offense has scored at least 28 in three consecutive games and should put up some good numbers in this one. The Eagles will also be looking for a little revenge after losing last year’s Super Bowl. I expect a back and forth high-scoring contest with Philly pulling one out at the end.
Pick: Eagles +2.5
