The Duke Blue Devils and Clemson Tigers both sit in second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings with no real legitimate shot at catching first-place Virginia, but there is still plenty to play for. With several teams behind them, the Blue Devils and Tigers will battle for seeding on Sunday afternoon in their one and only matchup of the season. The 10th-ranked Blue Devils and 12th-ranked Tigers, who are hoping to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time this season, are facing key injury issues. Duke has won two in a row, most recently against Virginia Tech, following an uncharacteristic 1-3 stretch. Clemson had won five in a row before falling to Florida State on Wednesday, when the Tigers blew an 18-point lead before losing in overtime. Since Virginia held Clemson to 36 points, the Tigers have scored at least 72 in five straight games.

The Blue Devils will likely be without leading scorer and rebounder Marvin Bagley Jr. (21.2 points, 11.4 rebounds), as the freshman has missed the last two games with a knee injury and may not be available Sunday. Marques Bolden, starting in place of Bagley, had zero points and one rebound in 16 minutes versus Virginia Tech. Senior Grayson Allen (25 points, 7-of-15 from 3-point range) led the way against Virginia Tech, while Wendell Carter Jr. recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds for his seventh double-double in the last 10 games. Gary Trent Jr. went 5-of-9 from 3-point land against the Hokies and is shooting over 60% from that distance over the last five games.

The Tigers already are without Donte Grantham (ACL tear), who is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding, and the team likely will be without point guard Shelton Mitchell (head) on Sunday. Marcquise Reed scored 23 points against Florida State, bouncing back after totaling four points in the previous game. Gabe DeVoe has been hot from long distance, hitting 25-of-40 (62.5%) over the last five games. Clemson will be at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, a team that is just a game and a half behind them in the ACC standings.
Duke is not the same team without Bagley, but Clemson is hurt even more without Grantham and Mitchell. I don’t think the Tigers can overcome those two being out against a Duke team that seems to have turned things around.
