The Los Angeles Dodgers finally got a much-needed day off on Monday as they head to the Windy City to begin a three-game interleague series with the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The Dodgers are actually coming off a losing homestand after getting swept in three games by the Pittsburgh Pirates and splitting a four-game set with the New York Mets. L.A. finished with a 19-12 record during a 31-game, 30-day stretch with a 5-4 loss to the Mets on Sunday. Over the weekend, shortstop Trea Turner saw his 26-game hitting streak come to an end. Despite the struggles, the Dodgers still lead the National League West by two games over the San Diego Padres entering Monday’s action.

The Dodgers will take their 18-9 road record into Chicago to face a White Sox team that has a losing home mark (11-13). The White Sox have been battling injuries all season and are still without their best player Tim Anderson. Over the weekend, Chicago managed to take two-of-three at the Tampa Bay Rays after getting swept by the Toronto Blue Jays to start their six-game road trip. At two games under .500 for the season, the White Sox are just five games behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central. Chicago recorded a season-high with 16 hits in Sunday’s 6-5 victory against Tampa Bay with six players getting at least two hits. This is the first meeting between the teams since the 2017 season.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Mitch White (1-1, 4.79) | White Sox – Michael Kopech (1-2, 2.20)

Mitch White will get his fourth start of the season for L.A. and threw a career-high 78 pitches in his latest outing. That was a 8-4 loss to the Pirates on June 1 where White allowed three runs over five innings of work with seven strikeouts. White has not faced the White Sox in his career but has 4 1/3 scoreless innings in three interleague appearances.

Michael Kopech still only has one victory on the year despite a sparkling 2.20 ERA in nine starts. The right-hander was roughed up for six hits and five runs over three innings in a 7-3 loss to Toronto last Wednesday. Kopech has just one interleague start in his career and that came earlier this season against the Chicago Cubs, throwing four scoreless innings.

Kopech has been a little shaky lately and the Dodgers should be refreshed after a day off. White hasn’t been very good either and the Dodgers’ bullpen has a 4.50 ERA in their last 10 games. I can see a slugfest here. I’ll take the over.
