After an epic Game 2 that saw the Houston Astros hang on for a 7-6 victory, the series now shifts to Houston for Game 3 of the World Series on Friday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers blew a chance at taking a commanding 2-0 series lead against the two Houston aces and will now turn to Yu Darvish on the road. The teams combined for a World Series-record eight home runs on Wednesday, with George Springer’s two-run shot in the 11th inning proving to be the winner in the Astros’ come-from-behind road win. Houston will carry that momentum home (6-0 this postseason) and has made the decision to close the roof on Minute Maid Park for Friday’s game, assuring that crowd noise will play a role in the outcome. The 4-hour, 19-minute Game 2 classic featured six homers in the final three innings after a speedy 2-hour, 28-minute Game 1. Springer went 3-for-5 in Game 2 after going 3-for-30 with 11 strikeouts over his previous eight. Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner is just 1-for-9 through the first two games, with the hit being a two-run game-winning homer on Tuesday.
Pitchers: Dodgers – Yu Darvish (2-0, 1.59 ERA) | Astros – Lance McCullers Jr. (0-0, 2.08)
Darvish has had a solid postseason thus far, striking out 14 in 11.1 innings to improve to 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA in four career playoff starts. The Japan native fared well at Minute Maid Park during his time with the Texas Rangers, going 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in six career outings. He was 1-1 in two starts against the Astros this year, striking out 12 in as many innings.
Lance McCullers, who has a 2.33 ERA in four playoff appearances (two starts), is making his second start this postseason and has recorded 13 strikeouts in 13 innings. He took a shutout into the seventh inning of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series before allowing a homer by New York’s Aaron Judge but has been finding success with a steady diet of curveballs. He has never faced the Dodgers.

Houston has the momentum now, but I still like the Dodgers pitching in this series. I expect L.A. to be patient with McCullers and get to him the second time around the lineup. Darvish is an underrated pickup by the Dodgers and is not intimidated by Minute Maid Park.
Pick: Dodgers +120
