The Houston Astros finally broke-out of a hitting slump on Tuesday, and will look to keep that going when their four-game, two-city series with the Arizona Diamondbacks shifts to Minute Maid Park in Houston. The Astros scored just over two runs a game to begin their 1-6 road trip, but exploded for 13 hits in Tuesday afternoon’s 9-4 over Arizona in the desert to even their four-game series. Eight of those 13 hits went for extra bases. Jose Altuve added two more hits to lift his MLB-leading average to .363, and catcher Max Stassi doubled in the game’s first run in the second inning and mashed his second career homer in the ninth. Stassi has been brought up from the minors as both Brian McCann and Evan Gattis went on the disabled list. Both Houston and Arizona now have identical 10-2 interleague records and leaves the Astros still 12 games up on the Angels in the AL West heading into Tuesday night’s action. The Diamondbacks lost for the seventh time in 10 games and occupy the second wild card in the NL, five games up on the St. Louis Cardinals. Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt is 6-for-16 with two homers, two doubles, four walks, four runs scored and three RBIs during his five-game hitting streak. Taijuan Walker, who is 3-1 with a 2.01 ERA in his last five interleague starts, gets the start for Arizona opposite Houston veteran Charlie Morton.

Pitchers: Diamondbacks – Taijuan Walker (6-6, 3.76 ERA) | Astros – Charlie Morton (9-5, 3.83)

Walker is on an eight-game winless streak and the D’Backs have lost in each of his last six outings. However, Walker does have five quality starts in that eight-game stretch. He was hit for four earned runs in five innings while striking out just two and walking three versus the Chicago Cubs on Friday at home. Walker owns a 5.85 ERA in seven career starts at Minute Maid Park and has had his troubles with Altuve (9-for-25) and Josh Reddick (4-for-9, two homers).

Morton has been stuck on nine wins for a while and his next victory would match a career high set in 2011. He had a string of three straight quality starts snapped in a loss at Texas on Friday, allowing three earned runs in 5.2 innings. Morton is 6-2 at home this year and 3-1 with a 3.97 ERA in six career starts against Arizona.

Houston busted out yesterday with a nine spot and now comes back home against a pitcher who hasn’t won since before the All-Star Break. At the same time, Morton didn’t look good in his last outing. I can see Arizona hitting him here in this one. I like the over.

Pick: Over 9 -110
