The St. Louis Cardinals continue to dominate the National League and are now looking to complete a 4-game sweep in Arizona tonight. Last night John Lackey held the D’Backs to a single run in the Cards 3-1 win. Kevin Siegrist pitched the 8th to get his 24th hold of the year and Trevor Rosenthal wrapped it up with his 40th save. It’s just what St. Louis has been doing all year. They now lead the N.L. Central by 4.5 games over Pittsburgh. Starting pitcher Carlos Martinez will try and get back on track tonight. He’s allowed 11 runs in his last 3 starts, but his ERA for the season is still a very nice 2.85.
The Diamondbacks started getting back into the N.L. West race by sweeping the Reds in Cincinnati to get over the .500 mark, but these last 3 losses have hurt. They’re 7.5 games behind the Dodgers and the only way for them or any team outside of the Central to get in, is to win their division. They scored 26 runs in Cincinnati, but only have 5 this series. The team leader in wins, Rubby De La Rosa goes tonight for Arizona. His overall ERA is 4.32, but has only allowed 3 runs in his last 14 innings (2 starts). This will be his first game against St. Louis this year.
The Cardinals are just playing too good right now to go against. The line is only -130, so I would jump on it.
Pick: Cardinals -130
