Bucks vs Jazz Preview & Free Pick [11/8/2019]

Milwaukee (6-2) at Utah (5-3)
When: Friday, November 8th, 2019
Where: Vivint Smart Home Arena,
Salt Lake City, UT
Time: 9:05 ET | TV: FS Wisconsin
Opening Odds: Milwaukee -2/216

The Utah Jazz have been one of the worst cover teams thus far in the NBA season, going 2-6 ATS, but are one of only two unbeaten home teams in the Western Conference (Lakers). The Jazz will put their 4-0 home mark on the line as underdog to the Eastern Conference power Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night in Salt Lake City. Utah came away with a 106-104 home win over Philadelphia on Wednesday, as Jazz bettors saw the Sixers put in a meaningless two-point basket with just a few seconds left for the cover. Star guard Donovan Mitchell had 24 points and a season-best eight assists for the Jazz, who rebounded after an 11-point loss at the L.A. Clippers. Milwaukee comes to town riding a four-game winning streak – three of them on the road – after a 129-124 win over the Clippers, who were resting star Kawhi Leonard. Reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo posted his eighth straight double-double and is the first player in NBA history to exceed 200 points, 100 rebounds and 50 assists in the first eight games of season. The ‘Greek Freak’ had a season-high 38 points to go with 16 rebounds and nine assists while leading the Bucks over the Clippers and has scored at least 30 points four times and recorded 10 or more rebounds in all eight games. Mitchell scored 46 points in Utah’s 115-111 win over Milwaukee on March 2nd, while Antetokounmpo poured in 43. The home team has won each of the past four meetings, cover the spread in three of them.

About the only thing wrong with Antetokounmpo’s game right now is his long range shooting. The 6’11” forward went 4-for-7 against the Clippers after a 4-of-23 stretch over the first seven games. Antetokounmpo attempted a career-high 203 three-pointers a season ago, making just 25.6 percent. Point guard Eric Bledsoe is heating up and scored 22 and 20 points in his last two games while hitting 8-of-14 in each contest, but did total seven turnovers. Guard George Hill scored a season-best 24 points in 24 minutes off the bench, while making 6-of-7 from beyond the arc. Milwaukee will finish off their four-game road trip at Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Jazz center Rudy Gobert has been a rebounding machine lately, averaging 15.3 boards over his last three games after a 14-point, 16-rebound effort in the win over the 76ers Wednesday. Point guard Mike Conley scored 15 and he is averaging 17.8 points over his last four games for a Utah team that ranks ninth in 3-point shooting (36.9). Forward Joe Ingles scored a season-high 16 points in 29 minutes off the bench for just his second double-digit effort of the season. The Jazz, who rank No. 1 in the league in points allowed (96.6), will be at Golden State on Monday.

This should be a pretty tight game, but I’m going with the hot Bucks squad here. Antetokounmpo has been out of this world so far this season, and he had a huge game against this Jazz team the last time Milwaukee was here.
