The Boston Bruins have had problems all season long against the Ottawa Senators, but must find a way to solve those issues or be eliminated from the postseason. The Bruins won Game 1 of the series after losing all four meetings during the regular season, but have now lost the last three including Wednesday’s 1-0 shutout as they couldn’t solve Ottawa netminder Craig Anderson. Boston has never come back from a 3-1 series deficit and will need to win the next three including two of them on the road. Although Colin Miller returned for Game 4, Boston’s blue-line corps remain injury-plagued with Torey Krug, Adam McQuaid and Brandon Carlo expected to sit out Game 5. Rookie Charlie McAvoy, who made his NHL debut in Game 1, has played at least 24 minutes in each game, including a team-high 25:03 Wednesday. Boston is just 2-for-11 on the power play in the series. Goalie Tuukka Rask had his best game since the opener, stopping 27 of 28 shots, but will need the Bruins offense to get going if they want to stave off elimination.

Ottawa is 8-for-8 when holding a 3-1 series lead and will look to close things out at Canadian Tire Centre where they were 22-11-8 this season. While Boston got just a total of 10 shots over the final two periods, Anderson set the tone in the opening 20 minutes by denying Brad Marchand on a pair of breakaways en route to his fourth playoff shutout and the Senators third straight one-goal victory. Forward Bobby Ryan delivered the lone goal with his third of the series. Ryan has four goals and two assists during a five-game point streak dating back to the regular-season finale. Defenseman Erik Karlsson, who set up the tying and winning goals in Game 3, picked up his fifth assist of the series on Ryan’s goal in Game 4. Ottawa’s win at Boston was their fifth straight at TD Garden dating back to last season.

Ottawa has this team on the ropes and the Bruins are still banged-up on the blue line. The Senators fans will be rocking the joint and lift their team into the second round.
