Two of the lowest-scoring teams in the league will nothing left to play for will kickoff Week 15 of the NFL schedule, as the Denver Broncos visit the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Thursday Night Football. The Colts might still be thawing-out from last weekend’s snowy 13-7 overtime loss in Buffalo that gave them their fourth consecutive setback. Indianapolis ranks 30th in the NFL in scoring at 16.3 points per game and will face a Denver defense that is allowing a league-best 280.5 yards per game and second-best 191.1 yards through the air. The Broncos snapped an eight-game losing streak with an impressive 23-0 shutout of the New York Jets, limiting them to just 100 yards of total offense (59 rushing, 41 passing) in Mile High. These teams have had some epic battles of the last few decades, but this one won’t be near that level as both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. Colts’ quarterback Jacoby Brissett will make his 13th start and is coming off a rough outing in the snow, completing just 50% of his passes for a measly 69 yards. The conditions in this game will be better, but so will the opposing defense.

LIVE IN-GAME BETTING

Quarterback Trevor Siemian rebounded from two-straight three-interception performances with a turnover-free effort versus the Jets. Siemian was a solid 19-of-31 for 200 yards and a scoring pass to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who had eight receptions against the Jets for the second time in a six-game stretch, during which he has found the end zone four times. The running game was once again putrid, with C.J. Anderson leading the way with 48 yards on 22 carries (2.2 average). Denver, which is ranked 19th in rushing offense (105.5), haven’t eclipsed 120 yards on the ground since Week 7 against Kansas City. The Broncos will be in Washington on Christmas Eve before closing the season out at home against the Chiefs on New Year’s Eve.

The Colts have covered the spread in 8 of the past 9 meetings.

Because of the terrible weather conditions last week, the Colts had to use veteran Frank Gore early and often, and the ageless wonder didn’t disappoint. Gore ran the ball a career-high 36 times for 130 yards last week and needs 59 scrimmage yards to join Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith as the only players in NFL history with at least 12+ consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards. Jack Doyle scored the only Indianapolis touchdown last week, and his 64 receptions rank second among all NFL tight ends. The Indianapolis defense that is ranked 31st in points allowed per game (26.4) and 30th in both total yards (375.3) and passing yards (257.8). The Colts will be in Baltimore next Saturday and will end the season at home against Houston.

WEEK 15 STAFF SELECTIONS

Neither of these teams want to be playing on short-rest in a meaningless game. It doesn’t mean the game won’t be tight, though. The Colts have the advantage because they’re the home team and Denver is 0-6 away from Mile High this season. I like the Colts in a low-scoring affair.
