Two sizzling hockey teams will face off this Wednesday when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Tampa Bay Lightning. Both clubs are climbing in the standings, with the Oilers winning five of their last six, while the Lightning have taken three of four. It has been an inconsistent season for Edmonton to say the least. They were early favorites after starting the season 16-5-0, but went on a 7-13-3 skid through January and February. Oilers management parted ways with head coach Dave Tippett and brought on Jay Woodcroft to finish the season.

Since Woodcroft took over, the Oilers have gone 5-1-0 and pulled themselves back into playoff contention. During the current stretch, they’re outscoring their opponents 25-15 and have moved into a third place tie with the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division. The Lightning opened up as -205 favorites with a lofty total of 6.5.
The Lightning, on the other hand, have been consistently solid all season long and sit just five points behind the Panthers for top spot in the Eastern Conference. They are much healthier this season than last, with just Zach Bogosian out injured. Tampa Bay is ranked eighth offensively (3.41 goals per game) and ninth in defense (2.76 goals per game).
