Sad news comes out of Pittsburgh where Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

Details are a bit sketchy but some witnesses to the wreck noted that Big Ben’s motorcycle collided with a car at an intersection and he was ejected from the motorcycle in which his head hit the vehicle’s windshield causing visible bleeding.

The crapper about this whole incident is that Pennsylvania does NOT require motorcycle riders to wear helmets and Ben has always made it clear that he does not feel that he needs to wear one.

Steelers coaching staff have let him know they don’t approve of such a policy however nowhere in his contract does it state that he’s not allowed to ride motorcycles without a helmet.

Roethlisberger was rushed into surgery and all doctors have said up to this point was that it could be a procedure that takes up to six hours.

Initial reports state that Ben has broken some bones in his face, busted out a bunch of teeth and has numerous lacerations. Another unconfirmed report is that his knees were injured as well. We’re currently working on finding out more information about the crash.

Roethlisberger’s status for the upcoming NFL season is unknown at this point.
