The NFC North standings look a little strange with the Bears and Vikings up top and the Green Bay Packers at the bottom. Yes, it’s only one week and Green Bay won’t stay down for long. In 2021, the Packers were crushed in Week 1 and came back to win the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Last week, Green Bay was handled by the Minnesota Vikings on the road and will now host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. The Packers come into this contest as 10-point favorites against a Bears team that surprised everyone last week. Chicago was a 7-point home underdog but shocked the San Francisco 49ers 19-10. The Bears bring some confidence into Sunday’s contest, but they know Aaron Rodgers has “owned them” over his career.
The Bears probably benefited from last week’s soggy field conditions against San Francisco. Over four inches of rain fell in the area and a lot of that during the game. Quarterback Justin Fields had two touchdown passes as the team won in Matt Eberflus’ debut as head coach. Running back David Montgomery looks to bounce back after gaining 50 scrimmage yards against San Francisco. Montgomery has averaged 90 scrimmage yards in five career games against Green Bay. Chicago’s defense showed up and harassed Trey Lance, who went just 13-for-28 for 164 yards and zero touchdowns plus an interception. The Over is 4-0 in the Bears’ last four games as a road underdog.
Rodgers and the Packers were humiliated by the Vikings in Week 1, 23-7. Rodgers was 22–of-34 for 195 passing yards and zero touchdowns with an interception. Rodgers is surely going to bounce back against a team he dominates. Lazard coming back will also help. Still, head coach Matt LaFleur might increase the roles of running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon after the two only combined for just 15 carries in Week 1. Jones and Dillon are more than capable of going off and are a great backfield duo. The Packers’ defense allowed 395 total yards last week and didn’t force a turnover. Green Bay is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games in Week 2.
This is an easy one for me. The Packers have dominated the Bears and what better way for Rodgers to bounce back from a poor Week 1 showing. He’s going to have a monster night at Lambeau and the Pack win easily.
