Chicago Bears (4-4) at San Francisco 49ers (3-5)
Recent Meetings After four weeks in this NFL season, both the Bears and 49ers were sitting pretty at 3-1. With 9 weeks in the books, the Bears now sit at 4-4, 3 games behind the Vikings in the NFC North, while the 49ers have lost 4 straight are 2 games back of the Cardinals in the NFC West. While neither has been eliminated from playoff contention, both the Bears and 49ers need to start winning. That makes this game real important. The Niners are now back with Alex Smith at quarterback. He doesn’t appear to be the answer. Smith has thrown 6 touchdowns in 3 games, but has also thrown 5 picks. They still need Frank Gore to run well to open up the passing game. The Bears’ Jay Cutler has been night and day this year at home versus the road. Ten of his twelve interceptions this year have been on the road. Matt Forte only has one 100 yard game this year on the ground. Like the 49ers, the Bears need to establish the run to give Cutler a better chance at succeeding.
