NY Yankees (66-35) at Boston (56-47)
When: Thursday, July 25th, 2019
Where: Fenway Park,
Boston, MA
Time: 10:07 ET | TV: MLB Network
Opening Odds: New York -127/11

The top two scoring teams in the league will square-off once again this weekend when the New York Yankees visit the Boston Red Sox in the opener of a four-game series starting Thursday night. This will be the first time they’ve met since their slugfest in London with the Yankees 11 games clear of Boston and 10 ahead of second place Tampa Bay. New York is coming off a wild series in Minnesota in which they took two of three after Wednesday’s 10-7 victory – predicted by us at UltimateCapper. Didi Gregorious went 8-for-10 and drove in 10 runs over the last two games to help give the Yankees their ninth win in 13 games since the All-Star Break. The Red Sox began a string of 14 straight games against Tampa Bay and New York by taking two of three against the Rays after Wednesday’s 3-2 setback in St. Petersburg. Boston outfielder Mookie Betts has reached base in 21 straight games and the Red Sox have at least one extra-base hit in 117 consecutive contests – the longest active streak in baseball. Boston is just 1-6 so far this season against the Yankees and are two games behind Oakland in the wild card standings.

Pitchers: Red Sox – Rick Porcello (8-7, 5.61 ERA) | Yankees – Masahiro Tanaka (7-5, 4.00)

Rick Porcello will face Masahiro Tanaka for the second time this season and both are hoping for better showings than their last one in London. Porcello was tagged for six runs in one-third of an inning in that wild 17-13 loss on June 29th but has won his last three starts. He earned his eighth win at Baltimore on Saturday despite allowing six runs and 11 hits in five innings of a 17-6 victory over the Orioles. Porcello is 10-9 with a 3.68 ERA in 24 starts against the Yankees.

Tanaka allowed six runs in two-thirds of an inning over in London against the Red Sox, but is unbeaten in his last seven starts after allowing five runs and seven hits in six innings of an 11-5 victory over Colorado on Saturday. Tanaka has allowed four runs or more in three of his last four starts and owns a 5.09 ERA over his last seven outings. He is 8-4 with a 4.82 ERA in 19 outings versus Boston.

The Yankees have Boston’s number this year and this weekend series should be no different. It would be a safe bet to take the Yankees in all four games starting with the opener on Thursday.
