The Power of the Offensive Line
The offensive line is at the heart of any great football time. If your line is good, it means your offense will be good. It’s as simple as that. An offensive line’s quality and consistency can affect the outcome of a game, and if the offensive line isn’t performing strongly, the quarterback won’t have time to make good decisions. The offensive line is nothing without guidance from a great coach, and some of the coaches mentioned in our lists are some of the best in the game right now.
NFL betting lines can be so unpredictable, so it is important to know who you want to put your money on. Read on to find out which NFL team has the best offensive line this season.
Teams to Watch Out For
1. Philadelphia Eagles
If a team wants to change its offensive line, it should model itself on the Eagles. Their strategy is golden. Over the years, they’ve built a dominating unit, combining a mixture of high-value assets with lots of project players to develop one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.
One of the best assets to the Eagles is their center, Jason Kelce. Small but mighty, he provides so much energy and has been on the first-team All-Pro a total of four times. Back in the 2013 draft, the Eagles snapped up Lane Johnson, he is one of the best right tackles in all of the NFL. On the left guard, they’ve got Landon Dickerson, a second-round pick, and on the right guard, they’ve got Issac Semualo as a third-round pick. Last but not least in the line is Jordan Mailata, a late seventh-round pick who had actually never played football until the Eagles drafted him in 2018. Since then, he has now become one of the best left tackles in all of football.
You can’t credit a team without praising the coach, and the Eagles’ offensive coach Jeff Stoutland, has been with the team since 2013. It is his crafty work that has made a great line of offense.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
If you have ever doubted the importance of what a quality offensive line can provide, you need to rewatch footage of how the Chiefs play. Their offensive line has been totally rebuilt in the last year. With the additions of left tackle and guard Orlando Brown Jr and Joe Thuney, coupled with center Creed Humphrey and right guard Trey Smith, they have totally upgraded the level they can play. Their coach is one of the best in the business, Andy Heck.
3. Detroit Lions
It is not common in football to see a team with a great offensive line that doesn’t have an excellent quarterback leading the way. However, this isn’t the case for the Detroit Lions. Their success has been through their investments with top first-round picks for positions such as LT and RT in Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell. Although we have seen a lot of injuries from the Lions team this season, their offensive line keeps them in the game.
4. Cleveland Browns
We can’t write a list of the best offensive lines and not include the Cleveland Browns. Throughout years in the NFL, the Browns have always been in the top five for the best offensive lines. This is the instrument for their success as a team, as they have one of the best offensive line coaches in the game. They achieve all this despite some injuries on the squad with right tackle and center.
The Browns have great guards in both Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller. Through these men, they anchor the unit. The line is seventh in adjusted line yards and has given up only five sacks so far in the season. In more specific terms, the line is seventh in pressure rate allowed, enabling the Browns to move the ball through the air with a backup quarterback found in Jacoby Brissett. In the running back, the team uses a tactic of one-two punch, with Kareem Hunt averaging 4.3 yards per attempt alongside Nick Chubb, who averages about 5.7 yards per rush.
