Underrated Bets for the Next NFL Super Bowl Champion

The NFL season is nearly upon us, which means millions of people in the United States and Canada are flocking to gambling sites to wager on favorites and underdogs and try to find the best odds for the next Super Bowl champion. While the NFL often sees the top teams at the start of the season perform well, only betting on the heavy favorites would be a mistake.

Several teams have underrated chances at performing well this season that sports bettors should not overlook. Below, we’ve assembled a breakdown of five excellent value bets who could swoop in and claim the next Super Bowl.

Miami Dolphins (+2200)

The Dolphins feel like a team many Canadian sportsbooks might be underestimating. They are a hugely talented team with A-List talents like Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, and Jalen Ramsey. Their defense should be much improved this season, and the lone questions are Tua Tagovailoa’s health and the offensive line’s ability to keep him upright. But Tua had bad injury luck last year, and Mike McDaniels seems like a talented coach who will be able to scheme around deficiencies. While the division is tough, this team is incredibly stacked.

Los Angeles Chargers (+2800)

The Chargers tend to blow it in the worst possible way, but this could be the year they shake that. Quarterback Justin Herbert is a superstar, the offensive line is solid, and they have some of the best skill position talent in the league. They brought in Kellen Moore to make their offense more dynamic, which is a scary proposition for the rest of the league. Defense, as has been the case in the past, will be a question mark. But there are players like Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James that could produce an above-average defense, which is all they’ll likely need to be a contender.

New Orleans Saints (+3300)

Very few sports bettors or NFL fans are eying the Saints to do much this season. That might be a mistake. The Saints added Derek Carr, a reliable, quality quarterback who will benefit from players like Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and Chris Olave on offense. Health and suspensions are a factor with that group, but the defense should be one of the league’s best. The Saints have consistently had a ferocious group, with Cam Jordan, Marshon Lattimore, and Demario Davis leading the way. In a terrible division, they are highly likely to be in the playoffs.

Cleveland Browns (+3300)

The Cleveland Browns have an elite offensive line, enough quality skill position players, and plenty of talent on defense. Yet, no one is talking about them. This might be because it is uncomfortable, thanks to quarterback Deshaun Watson’s ugly history. Watson is deeply unlikable, but on the football field, if he plays like his old self, this team could be one of the league’s best. Looking from top to bottom on the Browns’ roster, their weaknesses are not very apparent. When Watson last played at a high level, he was one of the best in the game. If that is the case this year, the Browns are AFC contenders.

Denver Broncos (+4000)

The Broncos have horrific odds on betting sites after crumbling under the weight of expectations last year. Russell Wilson looked lost, Nathaniel Hackett was dead in the water, and the team fell apart. Sean Payton has taken Hackett’s place, and the team invested heavily in the offensive line. This could mark a major change. Bettors are overlooking that Wilson is still the same player who was a consistent pro bowler; he just had one bad year with terrible coaching. If the defense can play to the same level, watch out.
