Texas (0-0) at Notre Dame (0-0)
When: Saturday, September 5th, 2015
Where: Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN
Time: 7:30 ET
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into Brian Kelly’s 6th year with high expectations, like they always do. It looked as though last year might have been the year, but after starting 6-0, they lost 5 of their next 6 games before pulling off an upset over LSU in the Music City Bowl. Quarterback Malik Zaire came off the bench in the final game against USC for Everett Golson and guided them to their Bowl win over LSU. Zaire should be ready to lead this team who return 7 starters on offense and 10 on defense. The Irish are 8-2 all-time against Texas.
The Longhorns are coming off their first losing season since 2010. They went 6-7 last year and were embarrassed in the Texas Bowl 31-7 to Arkansas. Things looked to be turning around near the end of the season when they reeled off 3 straight impressive wins before losing their last two. With one of the most improved offensive lines in the country, QB Tyrone Swoopes should see a vast improvement over his statistics last from last year. He lost his top two wide receivers, but Texas still brings a lot of talent back.
I really like both defenses in this game and the offenses are a big question mark heading into this season. It’s a prime-time game in South Bend so nerves will be a factor. I’ll take the under.
Pick: Under 49
