The most penalized team in the league will try and quickly forget last week’s nightmarish performance, as the Seattle Seahawks visit NFC West-rival the Arizona Cardinals to kick-off Week 10 of the NFL schedule on Thursday Night Football. The Seahawks, who have been penalized 82 times for 682 yards this season, were hit with 16 accepted flags in last week’s 17-14 home loss to Washington that snapped a four-game losing streak – three missed field goals by Blair Walsh didn’t help either. Quarterback Russell Wilson tossed four scoring strikes in a 34-31 loss against Arizona last season on Christmas Eve after both teams were limited to field goals in a 6-6 tie last October in Glendale. Adrian Peterson was not a member of the Cardinals for those games, but the 32-year-old veteran is making up for lost time in a hurry with a career-high 37 rushes for 159 yards in Sunday’s 20-10 victory over winless San Francisco. Just because it’s a short week, head coach Bruce Arians hinted that Peterson could get the same type of workload on Thursday. The Cardinals are 6-1-1 in their last eight games against the NFC West.

Walsh missed field goals of 44, 39 and 49 yards versus the Redskins, but coach Pete Carroll doesn’t seem too concerned. “We’ll see him come on back.” Walsh even stayed on the field during the entire halftime last week working on his aim, but didn’t get another attempt in the second half. Doug Baldwin, who made a career-best 13 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown the last time he played against Arizona, has 22 receptions on 34 targets for 254 yards and two scores over his last three games. Wilson completed just 53.3% of his passes last week and threw two costly interceptions to raise his season total to six – including three in the last two games. Safety Earl Thomas (hamstring) will likely not play while RB C.J. Prosise is expected to play on Thursday despite nursing a high-ankle sprain.

The road team has won 6 of the last 8 meetings in this series.

Drew Stanton keeps answering when called upon and he keeps moving this team forward. Stanton extended his winning streak to four games last week against San Francisco, spread over three years, by throwing two touchdown passes. J.J. Nelson had a big game last December against Seattle, recording 132 receiving yards, but has made just three catches for 54 yards in his last three games combined. Arizona’s defense has been pretty bad this year, but took advantage of a poor San Francisco team and held them to 10 points and 63 yards rushing. The Cardinals had allowed their previous three opponents to score 33 or more points. Arizona will play four of their next five games at home including the first place L.A. Rams on December 3rd.

WEEK 10 STAFF SELECTIONS

Look, both of these teams have their issues, but I’m not taking anything from the Cardinals win last week against the 49ers. Seattle has issues running the football, and Arizona is very good at stopping it. Look for Wilson to throw and run a lot himself against the 24th-ranked pass defense of Arizona. Seattle won’t allow Peterson to get 100 yards and the Seahawks will pull away late for an easy win.
