Detroit (3-1) at Phoenix (3-2)
When: Friday, November 6th 2015
Where: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, AZ
Time: 9:35 ET | TV: FSN Detroit, FSN Arizona
The Detroit Pistons have started out the new season nicely winning three of their first four games including wins over Atlanta and Chicago. They suffered their first setback on Tuesday 94-82 to Indiana. In that loss, center Andre Drummond had a huge game with 25 points and a career-high 29 rebounds. He’s almost averaging a 20-20 on the season with 20.2 points and 19.5 rebounds a game. The Pistons have been doing it with solid defense as their offense ranks near the bottom in every shooting category. They’re holding their opponents to just 92.2 points a game, which ranks them 4th in the NBA. Point guard Reggie Jackson is also off to a nice start averaging 19 points a game and shooting 40% from 3-point land. The Pistons are starting a brutal stretch of road games that take them all up and down the West Coast in the next 9 days. We’ll see how good this Detroit team really is by the end of next week.
The Phoenix Suns have the unenviable task of playing in the Pacific Division with the Warriors and Clippers. The Suns started out by losing their opener to Dallas, but have since won three of four including back-to-back wins over Portland last weekend. Point guard Erick Bledsoe leads the team in points, assists, steals, and blocks. Center Tyson Chandler is due for a big game if you go by his recent trend of scoring. His scoring totals in order are 3, 15, 5, 14, and 7 in his last game against Sacramento. He has over 11 rebounds in each of his last four games. The Suns will travel to Oklahoma City after tonight before returning home for four straight including the Clippers, Lakers, and Bulls.
I really like the way the Pistons are playing right now with their defense. Phoenix really isn’t that great and shouldn’t be favored by 4.5 points. I’ll take the Eastern dog tonight.
