The Oklahoma City Thunder are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff race, but their recent play has give the club some momentum and hope as they head into December. The Thunder just took a home-and-home from the New Orleans Pelicans and have won three of four overall to get within three games of the .500 mark. Point guard Dennis Schroder contributed 25 and 17 points respectively in the sweep of New Orleans, as the Thunder host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night at Chesapeake Arena. The Pacers are hot, winning six of their last seven games and improved to 1-1 on a five-game road trip with a 117-104 win at Memphis on Monday. Indiana began the trip with a loss at Philadelphia, but dished out 31 assists and had seven scorers in double figures while shooting 50 percent from the floor against the Grizzlies. The Pacers had a similar dominant effort in the first game with the Thunder back on Nov. 12 – a 111-85 home triumph as one-point favorites. Indiana has covered each of their last three road games, while OKC is 7-3 ATS at home this season.

Indiana is sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference and will only get better soon when All-Star guard Victor Oladipo (knee) returns. He is currently practicing with the team’s G League affiliate. In the meantime, Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis are carrying the scoring load with the former recording team highs of 19 points and nine assists on Monday. Sabonis scored 18 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and handed out eight assists, and has recorded a double-double in 14 of his 17 games. He was also a star last month when he registered 18 points and 16 boards in the win over Oklahoma City. The Pacers will continue their five-game road trip on Friday in Detroit.

Center Steven Adams was also big in the two-game sweep of the Pelicans, producing a couple of double-doubles while hitting 13-of-18 from the floor. Forward Danilo Gallinari recorded his first double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds Sunday and went 4-of-7 from 3-point range for his eighth straight game with multiple 3-pointers made. Shooting guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 17 on Sunday, but is just 9-of-30 from the floor over the last two games including 3-of-14 from beyond the arc. OKC will host Minnesota on Friday.

Indiana is hot right now and simply the better team – even without Oladipo. They’re shooting over 50 percent in their last five games and shoot well on the road also (48.1 percent). The Pacers are 9-3-1 ATS on one day of rest and already have an easy win over the Thunder this year.
