2010 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament Preview and Picks

One of the more entertaining small conference tournaments starts this week in the Ohio Valley Conference. The top two teams in the OVC, Murray State and Morehead State, are very good teams capable of upsetting a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. Trouble is, only one of them will be dancing. Both of these teams better not look ahead to Saturday’s Championship Game as the 3 teams behind them are capable of crashing the party. Austin Peay is always tough in this tournament. They split the season series with Morehead and lost by only 2 at Murray State back in February. Eastern Kentucky has had a fine season, but are 0-4 against the top two. Eastern Illinois is the team to watch out for. They have reeled off 7 wins in a row including wins over Morehead, Austin Peay, and Eastern Kentucky. Murray’s only conference loss this year was last week at Morehead State 70-65. I’m going to predict the top two make it through, but wouldn’t be surprised at all if one of the next 3 teams crashed Saturday’s Championship Game.
