NFL Free Pick | Seahawks @ Bills

Buffalo started the season with four straight wins, but has cooled off recently. After losing two straight, the Bills have looked so-so in victories over the winless Jets and 2-5 New England.

Now, the 6-1 Seattle Seahawks come to town. Surprisingly, both teams have defensive-minded head coaches but can’t seem to stop anybody. It’s a good thing their offenses can put up points.

East Coast Travel

Will the Seattle offense be slowed by the long trip to the East Coast? Probably not. In the past, bettors looking for free NFL picks may have put a little too much stock into that argument. It’s an argument you can’t win in Seattle’s case.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has taken his team to the East Coast 24 teams in his tenure with Seattle. In those games, the Seahawks are 14-7-3 ATS. Playing in Buffalo on Sunday shouldn’t be a problem for Seattle.

Let Russ Cook

The big reason why will be quarterback Russell Wilson. The Seattle quarterback is on fire and the current favorite to win the NFL MVP. Wilson has thrown an absolutely ridiculous 26 touchdown passes so far this season.

Plus, Wilson is going to have to be the guy that leads Seattle to victory because they might have to hire a running back off the street. Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Carlos Hyde, and Travis Homer are all injured and are either out or questionable for Sunday’s game.

The Seahawks will have to rely on the passing game to beat Buffalo. That’s okay though, since the Bills have given up the 10th-most total yards in the NFL this season, an average of over 358 yards per game.

Bettors should like Wilson too. In addition to being the favorite for this year’s NFL MVP, Wilson’s record against the spread is outstanding. Wilson is 73-55-7 ATS in regular season games for his entire career.

Seattle has had great success against the spread in 2020. The Seahawks are 5-2 ATS this season. They have also won 10 of their last 13 games on the road. That includes an East Coast trip to Miami earlier this season and a playoff win in Philadelphia last season.

The Pick is In

Buffalo, on the other hand, has only covered the spread in three of their eight games this season. The Bills are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games and just 2-4 ATS in their last six home games. The Bills have not covered the spread in each of their last four games.

Part of the problem might be quarterback Josh Allen who threw for 12 touchdowns and one interception through Buffalo’s first four games. Over the last four games, Allen has four touchdown passes and four interceptions. He has failed to throw a touchdown pass in each of Buffalo’s last two games.

With Wilson leading the Seattle offense and the success the Carroll-led Seahawks have had playing on the East Coast, the play is on the Seahawks to cover on Sunday.
