Normally, we start with talking about the quarterbacks, and while that is certainly a great conversation, we like the talk about Stefon Diggs, even better. This man has put together 847 yards on 67 receptions, and 7 TDs. As much as we love what Diggs is doing in Buffalo, we would be missing the boat to not mention the Patriots defense. It’s a unit that’s allowing just 15.8 points per game. Not only Diggs but the entire offense for the Bills is going to have a difficult night. Like we said to open this write-up – a month ago, we would be taking the Bills and bragging about it. Today, we are not so sure.
We can make a case for the Patriots having just one loss going into tonight’s game! Yes, we can. The first game of the season was a 16-17 loss against Miami, they lost on September 19th, to the Saints, 13-28, ten on October 3rd, 17-19, then on October 17th, to Dallas in OT, 29-35. Yes, yes, we know, “close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades!” Nevertheless, they were close in every game and fought in every game, with exception of the Saints, and that certainly wasn’t a blowout. This Patriots should be 11-11 right now.
Remember all those people that said Tom Brady is a “system quarterback”? Turns out, they were right. Is he a great quarterback? Of course, he is, but did he play in a system that was designed for a star? Yes, he did. How do we explain his Super Bowl win in Tamps? Easily. Tampa has a system; they have rebuilt that system and it was very good before Brady stepped in. They needed a system guy to come in and run the offense, that’s what they got – the best system guy ever.
Bill Belichick built a system for Tom, and he’s one of the best to ever do it. He is now building a system again. The Patriots are scoring 28 points per game and you can bet they will be ready for a Bills offense that allows just 16.5 points per game. The Patriots are veterans of this matchup and they will be battle-ready.
The Bills must get back into the swing of things and bring back the swag if they hope to pull this win off. We think between Allen, Singletary, and Diggs, they get it done. It will be close, it will be a dogfight, but they come out in the wash.
AmericasBookie’s opinion on how to bet: Bills -2.5, Bills 1st Half, under 41, Bills first to score. Diggs longest touchdown.
