The Cleveland Indians may have clinched the American League Central title already, but that doesn’t mean they will lay down for the Los Angeles Angels. The Indians, who have won an amazing 24 of their last 25 ball games, are looking to lock-up home field advantage throughout the AL playoffs and are 1.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros. The teams will start a three-game series on Tuesday with the Angels trying to track down the Minnesota Twins for the second AL Wild Card spot. It won’t be easy for Anaheim against a hot Cleveland club, which will be followed by a trip to Houston this weekend. Scoring runs against Cleveland has been tough to do lately as the staff has allowed four runs or less in 24 consecutive games. The Angels are coming off a weekend series win over the Texas Rangers despite scoring just two runs in each of the last two games. Los Angeles will try to hand the Indians a rare loss when lefty Tyler Skaggs goes up against Cleveland’s Mike Clevinger on Tuesday.

Pitchers: Indians – Mike Clevinger (10-5, 3.21 ERA) | Angels – Tyler Skaggs (2-5, 4.37)

With Cleveland losing only once in almost a month, it’s safe to say that all of their starters are on a roll and Clevinger is no exception. The right-hander is riding a four-game winning streak, during which he has allowed a total of one earned run. Clevinger had a string of three straight scoreless outings come to an end Wednesday, when he was reached for three runs – one earned – and six hits in 5.2 innings while earning a win over Detroit. Clevinger was not sharp against the Angels on July 25th, when he surrendered six runs – five earned – and nine hits in 4.1 innings without factoring in the decision.

Skaggs spent most of the summer on the disabled list and earned his first victory in nine starts on Wednesday against Houston, scattering three hits over seven scoreless innings and striking out five. Skaggs recorded a quality start in each of his last two starts after failing to complete six innings in any of his previous four outings. He will be seeing Cleveland for the first time this season and is 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA in two previous starts against the Indians.

Cleveland’s AL record-breaking winning streak may be over, but they’ve already bounced back with two wins to start a new one. They can’t afford to rest as they’re trying to get home field advantage. Skaggs has been better recently, but he’ll be no match for this red-hot Indians club.

Pick: Indians -105
