Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants look to complete a 3-game sweep at Dodger Stadium tonight on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. After struggling to score runs, the Giants bats have woken up to win their last 3 games and scoring 22 runs in the process. They are now only a half a game behind the Dodgers for 1st place in the National League West. During a recent 5 game homestand, San Francisco only scored 9 runs and 6 of them came in one game against the Mariners. They rank 4th in the majors with a .268 batting average, but are 17th in runs scored. As usual, their pitching has been solid and is the reason they are one win away from taking over 1st place.

Lincecum is having one of his best years since he last won the Cy Young Award. He’s 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA. He’s not the strikeout pitcher he once was, but he’s getting the job done this year. He only has 57 K’s in 73 innings. He has a high amount of walks considering is low ERA. He’s walked 35 so far this year which is over half of what he did last year. Sooner or later those walks will catch up to him.

The Dodgers have fallen on hard times. They have lost 6 of their last 8 and have been struggling to score runs much like they did for a stretch in May. They’ve only scored 19 runs in those 8 games. They still have one of the best pitching staffs in Baseball and they could use a win tonight before they head to Wrigley Field for 4 games starting Monday night.

Lefty Brett Anderson takes the mound tonight and he could really use a win also. He hasn’t won a game since May 8th when he beat Colorado. Since then, he has 3 losses and 4 no decisions. This will actually be his fourth start this season against the Giants and he hasn’t fared well against them. In 15 innings he’s allowed 21 hits and 10 runs, but oddly enough he hasn’t allowed a homerun.

I’m going to take the hotter team team in this one. Also, the fact that Anderson hasn’t had any luck against the Giants this year.

Pick: Giants +156
