Dodgers vs Brewers NLCS Preview & Free Pick | Prediction [Game 1]

LA Dodgers (0-0) at Milwaukee (0-0)
When: Friday, October 12th 2018
Where: Miller Park,
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Time: 8:05 ET | TV: FS1
Opening Odds: Los Angeles -145/7

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been here before – one year ago to be exact – but the Milwaukee Brewers are trying to capture their first league championship since 1982, when they were part of the American League. The teams will start their seven-game series on Friday night at Miller Park in Milwaukee, with a trip to the Fall Classic at stake. The Dodgers will go with their ace Clayton Kershaw opposite fellow lefty Gio Gonzalez in the Game 1 matchup. Milwaukee comes in having won 11 games in a row – including a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies in the NL Division Series – and owns homefield advantage after posting the best record (96-67) in the NL. The Dodgers took care of the Atlanta Braves in four games and mashed eight homers in the process with shortstop Manny Machado and infielder Max Muncy each hitting two. The Dodgers won the season series 4-3 and hit seven homers in a 21-5 home victory August 2nd. Los Angeles 1B Cody Bellinger, who hit a grand slam in the August blowout, is hitless in 11 at-bats during the postseason, while Brewers outfielder and MVP-candidate Christian Yelich, batted .433 with two homers, one triple and four doubles in 30 at-bats against the Dodgers this season.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Clayton Kershaw (1-0, 0.00 ERA) | Brewers – Gio Gonzalez (0-0, 0.00)

Kershaw put together one of his top postseason performances in the win over Atlanta with eight shutout innings as he improved to 8-7 with a 4.08 ERA in 25 career appearances (20 starts). Kershaw was 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in two outings against Milwaukee this season and stands 6-5 with a 2.86 ERA in 14 career starts against them.

Gonzalez will make his first appearance since September 30th after posting a 3-0 record with a 2.13 ERA in five starts after being acquired from the Washington Nationals. The lefty is 0-0 in six career postseason starts with 19 walks in only 26.1 innings. Gonzalez has fared well against the Dodgers by going 4-1 with a 1.89 ERA in six career outings.

I don’t care that Kershaw is pitching here. This Brewers team is for real and have it all going right now with 11 consecutive wins. Offense, pitching, defense – you name it. This will be an entertaining series for sure, but I think Milwaukee gets the win at home in Game 1.

Pick: Brewers +145
