It’s the best versus the worst Friday night on ESPN, as the Boston Celtics visit the Golden State Warriors to kick off a long road trip. If you haven’t looked at the standings yet in the NBA, you’ll find Golden State all the way at the bottom at 2-10, while the Celtics currently rule the league at 9-1. After dropping their season opener by 14 at Philadelphia, Boston has won their next nine games and will start a five-game trek through the West beginning Friday in San Francisco. The Celtics currently boast a four-game road winning streak, with three of them by 20 points or more and are coming off a 140-133 home win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. Golden State, meanwhile, is having a hard time stopping other teams from scoring without their superstars and were blown-out by LeBron James and the Lakers on Wednesday 120-94, allowing L.A. to shoot 53.9 percent from the floor. It was the teams fifth straight defeat and is allowing 122 points per game over that span and own a point differential of -10.8. The road team took both meetings last season with Boston earning a 128-95 win in Oakland behind 30 points from Gordon Hayward.

Boston lost Hayward for the entire season last year and still managed to go deep into the playoffs, so it’s no surprise that they’ve stepped up in his abscence once again. Hayward will miss up to six weeks with a broken hand, but guards Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and Kemba Walker are more than capable of replacing the scoring – and leadership. Walker leads the team in scoring at an average of 25 points, is 14-of-26 from 3-point range over the last two games, while Brown is averaging 25.7 points over the last three games. Smart, who took Hayward’s spot in the starting lineup, is 12-of-21 from the field in the past two games. Boston continues their road trip at Sacramento on Sunday.

Point guard D’Angelo Russell is doing his best to carry the team offensively, scoring 34 points per game over the last four, while rookie forward Eric Paschall is putting up 18.8 points over his last six games after scoring 15 off the bench Wednesday against the Lakers. The team, who is still without stars Stephen Curry (hand), Klay Thompson (knee) and Kevon Looney (hamstring), is 26th in the league in shooting (43.5 percent) and 29th in defensive field goal percentage (49.2). All-Star Draymond Green is just 6-of-17 from the floor in two games since returning from a finger injury. Center Willie Cauley-Stein scored 10 points on Wednesday and boasts nine blocked shots in the last four games. The Warriors begin a four-game road trip in New Orleans on Sunday.

This Warriors team is just dreadful right now and can’t stop anyone, while Boston looks like the best team in the East right now. Golden State is just 1-5 ATS in their new building and the Celtics won by 33 in Oakland last season against a much better – and healthier – Warriors squad. I’ll lay the points here.
