The top two teams in each conference will battle on ABC Saturday night as the Golden State Warriors host the Boston Celtics in what could be a preview of June’s NBA Finals. The Warriors seek their third straight win and a homestand sweep after a loss in Houston last Saturday. Kevin Durant will be on the opposite side of teammates Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green at next month’s All-Star Game, but for now, the four of them will look to extend their 3.5-game lead over the Rockets in the Western Conference standings. Durant was picked by LeBron James in the All-Star draft on Thursday and recorded a triple-double later that night in a 126-113 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Celtics’ All-Stars will be split as well, with center Al Horford joining Curry and point guard Kyrie Irving reuniting with James and getting a chance to play with Durant. Boston snapped a four-game losing streak with a 113-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday despite Horford (concussion protocol) sitting out. Boston shot just 32.9% from the floor but somehow managed to pull out a 92-88 home win over Golden State on November 16th.

Boston came out of a team meetings on Monday and played better in a 108-107 loss to the Lakers before getting things right in Wednesday’s victory over the Clippers. Irving recorded 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in just 28 efficient minutes on Tuesday and is averaging 30 points over his last four games. Point guard Terry Rozier spelled Irving and came away with 15 points off the bench including three rebounds and four assists and didn’t commit a turnover in 24 minutes of action. Guard Marcus Smart (hand) sat out Wednesday’s game after receiving stitches for a laceration and is questionable for Saturday’s contest.

The road team has won 5 of the last 6 meetings.

Durant dished out a career high with 14 assists in a win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday and recorded a triple-double on Thursday after being told he was the No. 1 pick in the All-Star draft. Curry, who picked Thompson and Green in the draft to keep three-fourths of the Golden State All-Stars together, added 25 points and nine assists in Thursday’s victory. Thompson looks as though he’s ready for the 3-point competition, going 7-of-9 from long distance on Thursday – the second time in four games that he knocked down seven 3-pointers. Golden State will hit the road for three games beginning Tuesday in Utah.

NBA SCORES – ODDS – PUBLIC PLAYS

The Warriors are really on a roll right now and Boston has regressed back to where they should be. Steph and company live the prime time spotlight, so I expect a big win.
