The Celtics have jumped out to a 1-0 lead in this series against the Buck and at times, they looked superior doing it. Can they ride the coattails of the first game to a 2-0 series lead? It’s going to be a tough task, even in the Garden at home.
Bucks vs. Celtics
TNT 7.00 PM EST
Vegas is not stupid and they often “get it right” more than they “get it wrong”. One has to wonder where the Celtics could have been had they not been minus their star Kyrie Irving and their offseason acquisition of Gordon Hayward, but that’s simply speculation and not reality. Game one was impressive from this team and it showed their heart. Heart goes a very long way sometimes and the Celtics have a heart as big as the outdoors. Talent is another thing, not to say the Celtics do not have talented players but they are certainly short on talent without their go to guy in Irving.
With the Celtics, the theme has been “next man up and Horford stepped up and took care of business in game 1 with 24 points and 12 rebounds; a stellar performance and one that was unexpected. The fans have been critical of Horford, quite possibly he gave them a moment of pause after a very big night.
“It’s go time,” Horford said after the overtime he helped fuel with 24 points and 12 rebounds in 44:19 of the game’s 53:00. “This is the time where you want to play. You want to be in these games setting the tone. It all starts on the defensive end. I try to set the tone on defense and kind of go from there. I guess it’s doing whatever I can do to help us win. That’s what it’s all about.”
Horford must step up yet again and be counted on and he must deliver in a big way tonight if his team has a chance. Milwaukee is another team that will not lay down and be stepped on. They have some very big guns of their own and it’[s a guarantee that they will come to ball tonight.
This series has all the earmarks of being hard-fought and a battle that could easily go to seven. Look for the Bucks to make the needed adjustments and watch for the stars to shine brightly as Milwaukee steps up their game and folks like Giannis Antetokounmpo have a big performance.
Boston is not traditionally an easy place to get a win and the playoffs are even more difficult in that town. The Garden has always been a tough place to play in April and May but Larry has left the building and Kyrie has a bum knee.
Prediction: Milwaukee + 2.5
