The Milwaukee Brewers are well on their way to winning the National League Central and most teams get complacent this time of year with a big lead. Not the Brewers. Milwaukee looks to keep rolling along as they head to Detroit to take on the Tigers in the first of a two-game interleague set at Comerica Park. The Brewers own a 14-game lead in the division over the Cincinnati Reds and have won seven of eight after a three-game sweep at Cleveland over the weekend. On Saturday, Corbin Burnes and Josh Hader combined to no-hit the Tribe then the bats exploded in an 11-1 on Sunday.

The Tigers meanwhile, are having a surprising season that will probably see them finish over .500. Detroit has won three of four after winning a series at home over the AL-best Tampa Bay Rays. The Tigers trailed by three runs in the eighth and two runs in the 10th on Sunday and pulled out an 8-7, 11-inning triumph. The winning run came home when Robbie Grossman drew a bases-loaded walk. The two teams split a two-game set back in Milwaukee earlier this season.

Pitchers: Brewers – Freddy Peralta (9-4, 2.69) | Tigers – Wily Peralta (3-3, 3.60)

Right-hander Freddy Peralta will get the start for Milwaukee on Tuesday. Peralta has been on an innings limit since coming off the IL and hasn’t gone more than 3.2 innings in any of his last three starts. None of those starts have been good either. Peralta has a 9.39 ERA in 7.2 innings during those three starts. He’ll be making his first career appearance against the Tigers.

The Tigers will counter with a Peralta of their own – Wily. The right-hander gave up a run on six hits in four innings at Pittsburgh last Tuesday in his most recent start. Three walks against the Pirates kept Peralta from going deep into the game. Peralta will be making his first career start against the Brewers.

I’m going to take a shot with the Tigers here. This team has not given up all year and are one of the top teams in terms of ROI in the entire league. Freddy Peralta has not pitched well since coming off the IL which means the bullpen could be in for a long night.
