Toronto (74-56) at Baltimore (71-59)
When: Monday, August 29th 2016
Where: Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD
Time: 7:05 ET | TV: Sportsnet, MASN
The Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles begin a big three-game series Monday night at Camden Yards. Toronto is coming off a three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins over the weekend and are three games ahead of Baltimore. Toronto scored 32 runs in the series and smacked nine homers. Josh Donaldson led the charge with four of those long-balls and collected nine RBI. He is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak, but is only batting .212 this season against the O’s. Baltimore salvaged the finale of a three-game set with the Yankees that saw their pitching staff get hammered in the first two. New York outscored Baltimore 27-9 in the first two games before the O’s came back with a 5-0 win on Sunday.
Pitchers: Blue Jays – Marco Estrada (7-6, 3.47 ERA) | Orioles – Wade Miley (8-10, 5.51)
Marco Estrada will try and bounce back from two horrible outings in which he’s allowed 11 runs over 9 innings and has surrendered five homeruns. He’s 0-2 in his last three starts after winning two in a row prior to that. He is 1-0 with a 3.71 ERA in three starts versus Baltimore this season.
Wade Miley got his first win as a member of the Orioles when he beat the Washington Nationals last week. This will be his sixth start for Baltimore after being acquired from the Seattle Mariners at the trade deadline. Miley dropped to 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA versus the Blue Jays after tossing six innings of two-run ball on July 24th.
This could be a slug-fest, but 10 is a little to high for me to take. Toronto is on a roll right now and I don’t see them slowing down against Miley. Estrada will pitch good enough to get the win tonight.
