The Cincinnati Bengals will try and snap a long dubious streak when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 13. The Bengals have now dropped 15 straight prime time games and 26 of their last 27. They have lost nine straight Monday night road games, including last season’s 32-13 setback in Cleveland on Halloween night. Their last win on a Monday night game during the 1990 season. Cincinnati will have to rely on backup quarterback Jake Browning to snap the streak, who has replaced the injured Joe Burrow.

This will be Jacksonville’s first Monday night game in 12 years when they lost 38-14 to the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 5, 2011. The Jags have won seven of its last eight games and are looking to run away with the AFC South. Jacksonville owns the NFL’s fourth-ranked run defense (87.4 yards allowed per game), while Trevor Lawrence leads the offense.

Jacksonville leads the all-time series 13-11 but dropped a 24-21 decision in Cincinnati on a Thursday night early in the 2021 season. Burrow threw the tying TD pass midway through the fourth quarter, and Evan McPherson won it on a 35-yard field goal as time expired. Burrow threw for two scores, while Lawrence passed for 204 yards and had a rushing touchdown.

Cincinnati is up against it now in regards to making the playoffs after getting routed in Week 11 in Baltimore and losing Burrow for the season. Browning got his first career start Sunday at home vs. Pittsburgh and went 19-for-26 for 227 yards and threw an interception in the red zone. The Bengals were 2-for-10 on third down and managed just 222 yards of total offense in the 16-10 loss. Running back Joe Mixon had eight carries for 16 yards, his lowest total since Week 7 of the 2019 season. The Bengals played without wideout Tee Higgins, who missed his third straight game with a hamstring injury. Higgins returned to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday and is probable for Monday.

The Jaguars got revenge on the Houston Texans last week after losing to them 37-17 in Week 3. Last week’s 24-21 win improved the Jags to 6-0 away from home, including two wins in London. Starting left tackle Cam Robinson left Sunday’s game with a knee injury in the first quarter and has been put on injured reserve. The earliest Robinson could return would be Dec. 31. Third-year Walker Little will take over as the starting left tackle. The last time Jacksonville was at least an eight-point favorite was way back in 2018 and they lost outright at home vs. Tennessee.

This is one of my least favorite games on the Week 13 card. Jacksonville should win this game, but I can’t remember they last time they were favored by 10 points. Browning has his first start out of the way and has the weapons outside to keep this one close. I’ll take the points.
