Fantasy Football Week 1 didn’t exactly pan out as well as we all expected. Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown had no part to play, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews didn’t get going and Jalen Hurts failed to make a statement in the NFL’s first game in Brazil. All things considered, if you came out unscathed in Week 1, kudos to you. But with NFL offenses settling in a little in Week 2, here are a few players you should consider benching for a variety of factors.
1] Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills
If you had high hopes for Dalton Kincaid, you’re not alone. Alas, Kincaid has not repaid the faith of fantasy managers through two weeks of football. He’s averaging roughly seven points. Yikes.
The Bills’ schedule doesn’t make for optimistic reading if you’re expecting a better return from Kincaid. They go up against the Jaguars, Ravens, Texans and the Jets next. The Jets have a mean defense and neither the Ravens or the Jaguars matchup will do the Bills offense any favours. Kincaid has been involved in the passing offense but the Bills resort to running a little more often. Kincaid is also splitting the workload with Dawson Knox more than anticipated. If you’re in wait-and-see mode, sit Kincaid the next few weeks.
2] Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
For the first time in a while, Watson is healthy enough to make a case for himself as the Packers’ premiere WR. Now, the Packers entered the season with a pretty democratized offense with Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Josh Jacobs and Tucker Kraft. Interestingly, Kraft has outperformed Dalton Kincaid after TNF in Week 2.
In any case, Jordan Love’s status is the major issue here. The Packers have a little faith in Malik Willis but Willis is not a quarterback who just got a deal that pays $55 million a year. The Packers’ receiving corps will likely face a downturn in numbers with the circumstances in play. Watson was a promising prospect this year, but for the next few weeks, not so much.
3] Javonte Williams, RB, Denver Broncos
The Broncos will not contend this year. You know that, I know that, the NFL knows that. The offensive line isn’t helping either. There are too many holes on this roster to expect a return. The Broncos will run a stale offense for most of the year and despite Javonte Williams being tagged as the RB1, it doesn’t make much sense to have him start when Sean Payton’s primary goal is to get Bo Nix acquainted with the big time.
