NFL Pro Bowl: AFC vs. NFC Betting Pick

Football fans have two weeks to wait until the 2020 Super Bowl, but there is still some football left to be played. The Pro Bowl is scheduled to take place on January 26, and it will once again be taking place in Orlando, Florida. This game always features the biggest and brightest stars from around the National Football League, but there will be some notable absences on Sunday.

This game has featured a ton of points over the last few years, as less and less defense is played. Football is a violent sport, and the players don’t want to run the risk of getting injured in an exhibition game. The American Football Conference (AFC) has been the better team of late in this matchup, but the National Football Conference (NFC) has a solid team. The AFC is a -1.0 point betting favorite over the NFC in the 2020 Pro Bowl.

Jackson, Watson Should Dominate For AFC

The AFC team should have one of the best Pro Bowl offenses in recent memory, led by a pair of young superstars at the quarterback position. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is likely to be named the MVP of the National Football League this season, and he will want to showcase his talents on this stage. Jackson ran for over 1,200 yards this season, while also throwing for 5,000 yards. Texans’ quarterback Deshaun Watson also had a huge year for his team, and he will also have his favorite target to throw the ball to. Look for Jackson or Watson to have a huge game on Sunday.

Defense doesn’t usually matter in the Pro Bowl, but the AFC will have most of their top defensive players on the field in this game. The Baltimore Ravens were a terrific defensive team during the regular season, and they will have several representatives in this game. There will also be plenty of New England Patriots’ defensive players on the field, and the AFC could be tough to score on.

NFC Will Need Some Defense

If the NFC is going to win this game then they are going to have to step up and play some defense. Having the San Francisco 49ers represent the conference in the Super Bowl takes away some terrific players on that side of the ball. Even though the NFC isn’t going to rack up any sacks in this game, their secondary will have to be solid against a terrific AFC passing attack.

The NFC is slated to have Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers as their top two quarterbacks, and their accuracy with the deep ball could play a huge role. Wide receiver Michael Thomas set NFL records this season, and he will likely be targeted a ton in this game. The NFC also has some terrific running backs to throw at the AFC squad, and they will need to find some holes. The AFC might have the bigger names on paper, but the NFC should score some points of their own.

AFC Outscores NFC in 2020 Pro Bowl

The winner of the Pro Bowl each year is usually the team that is able to find more offense than their opponent. There is never much defense that is played in this game, and it is always a high scoring affair. The American Football Conference has two of the best young quarterbacks in the league on their roster, and they will be looking to put on a show in this game. The National Football Conference will be missing some terrific defensive players, and they are going to struggle to get stops.
