In the build-up of the last round, 10 teams have already booked their place in the playoffs, and two more names were expected. Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Oakland Raiders were challenging the remaining spot in the AFC Conference, while Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys were fighting for the 6th spot in NFC Conference. The Steelers were expected to have an easy job away to Baltimore Ravens since the hosts have secured the top spot in the AFC and the advantage of playing at home ground to the Superbowl. But, the rivalry between these two sides produced a fierce battle, because the Steelers used to knock out the Ravens from some previous playoffs races. Although the hosts fielded a lot of players from the bench, including Robert Griffin, while Lamar Jackson was expected to miss this game, they managed to book a pretty easy 28-10 victory and leave the Steelers just below the playoffs zone.

Tennessee Titans were in a two-defeat streak, but they have been holding the playoffs keys in their hands since Houston Texans have already secured their place in the playoffs. The hosts had a plan to rest the main players and the Titans booked a priceless away win which saw them finishing the league stage on the 6th spot in the AFC Conference.

The playoffs battle in the NFC Conference saw Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys winning their matches respectively, and the Eagles remained above their rivals thanks to a 34-17 away win over New York Giants. The derby clash in the NFC Conference closed the league stage as Seattle Seahawks were hosting San Francisco 49ers. This was a direct clash for the top spot in the division and the conference as well. The visitors were considered as slight favorites since their rivals had several problems in their squad. 49ers fought for a very important 26-21 victory which brought them the privilege of playing in front of their fans until the Superbowl.

San Francisco 49ers are also one of the four teams who are going to skip the first weekend of the playoffs. Besides them, Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs will have more time to prepare themselves for the final battles. Four clashes are scheduled for the first playoffs round and one of the most interesting clashes will take place between New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Houston Texans are going to host Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings are having a trip to New Orleans to face the Saints, while Philadelphia Eagles will host Seattle Seahawks. The Ravens are the top favorites for the title according to the bookies, while the 49ers and the Patriots are considered as their main challengers. A few exciting weeks are ahead of us and we are eager to see who will win the Superbowl this season.
